About the game

Stack Duel takes the one-tap stacking game everyone knows and turns it into a duel. All players build the same tower. On your turn a block slides back and forth above the top, and you tap to drop it. Whatever hangs over the edge is sliced off and tumbles away, so every sloppy drop makes the tower narrower for everyone who comes after you.

Line a block up perfectly and it snaps into place, wins back a little width and scores double. Miss the tower completely and you lose one of your three lives. After every drop you also pick one of two curses for the next player: a faster block, fog that hides it right above the tower, a wobbling speed or a smaller block. The last player standing wins.

A match takes two to three minutes. Face computer opponents on three difficulty levels, or pass one phone around with up to four friends for a loud, petty and very replayable party game.

How to play

  1. Tap, click or press Space to drop the sliding block onto the tower.
  2. The overhang is sliced off and the tower narrows. A perfect drop scores 2 and wins back width; a normal drop scores 1.
  3. Missing the tower costs one of your 3 lives.
  4. After your drop, pick one of two curses for the next player. The last player with lives left wins.

Questions

Can I play Stack Duel with friends on one phone?

Yes. Choose "Same Device" and pass the phone, tablet or computer around. Two to four people can play, and the game tells you whose turn it is.

What do the curses do?

Fast makes the block 40% quicker, Fog hides it right above the tower, Wobble makes its speed surge and stall, and Tiny makes it a quarter narrower. You choose one of two for the next player after each drop.

What counts as a perfect drop?

A block that lands almost exactly on the one below. It snaps into place, adds a bit of width back to the tower and scores two points instead of one.

Is Stack Duel free?

Yes. It runs in your browser on desktop and mobile, with no download or sign-up.
