About the game

Orbit Sumo is sumo wrestling with planets. Up to four worlds drift on a glowing platform floating in deep space, and the rules are simple: the last planet still on the ring wins the round. Collect specks of stardust to gain mass, then ram your rivals and watch them tumble into the void.

Every choice has a cost. Mass makes you harder to move, but a heavy planet is also slow to stop, and that makes the edge dangerous. Each dash is a powerful shove that burns one unit of mass, left behind as dust that anyone can grab. Planets pull on each other with weak gravity, and after twenty seconds the platform starts to shrink, so nobody can hide in the middle for long.

A match is best of three rounds and lasts about two minutes. Pick one to three computer opponents and an easy, medium or hard difficulty, and play right in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.

How to play

  1. Steer your planet around the ring and collect stardust. Each speck adds mass and makes you bigger.
  2. Dash to shove rivals. Each dash costs 1 mass and needs 2 seconds to recharge.
  3. Heavy planets are hard to push but slow to stop. Watch your momentum near the edge.
  4. The ring shrinks after 20 seconds. Last planet on wins the round; at 90 seconds the heaviest wins. First to 2 rounds takes the match.

Questions

How do I win a round of Orbit Sumo?

Be the last planet left on the platform. If several planets are still on the ring after 90 seconds, the heaviest one wins the round.

Why does dashing make my planet smaller?

Every dash burns one unit of mass, which drops behind you as dust. Spamming dashes makes you light and easy to knock out, so save them for the right moment.

Is bigger always better?

Not quite. Heavy planets win collisions, but they accelerate slowly and keep sliding after a hit, so a well-timed shove near the edge can still send them flying.

Is Orbit Sumo free to play on mobile?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no download or sign-up.
